The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the entry point for recreational scuba diving worldwide. On completion you're certified to dive to 18 metres independently (with a buddy), access premium dive sites globally, and enjoy reduced pricing at dive shops.

Course overview

Three components:

  1. Knowledge development — theory and online exam.
  2. Confined water training — pool sessions covering equipment assembly and core techniques.
  3. Open water dives — ocean dives applying the skills.

Duration & structure

Standard: 4 days — two days confined water, then shore + boat dives. Accelerated 2–3 day options exist for participants who complete pool sessions beforehand.

Eligibility

  • Age: 10–45
  • Basic swimming ability — 200 m swim + 10-minute float
  • General good health; medical screening for significant surgery or respiratory history

Pricing in India

  • Andaman: ₹26,000 – ₹28,000
  • Lakshadweep: ₹28,000 – ₹30,000
  • Both exclude 18% GST
