Overview

The IISM Water Skiing Course is a 14-day fully residential programme — accommodation, meals, training, equipment, instructor support — for ₹8,000 (increasing by ₹2,000–3,000 annually). I trained at Tehri Lake. Exceptional value, but a real constraint: 25 students share 2 boats, so each person gets 3–4 attempts per day with long waits between.

Locations

IISM traditionally runs at Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake, Kashmir. The Tehri Lake venue offers the cleanest, most enjoyable water I've trained on.

Daily schedule

09:00–16:00 with morning runs, meals, tea breaks, and evening leisure. Each participant gets 3–4 falls or 1 full round per turn, then a ~2-hour wait for the next.

Curriculum

Beginner course heavily focuses on takeoff (~70% of the course). Progression: sitting position → standing → wave crossing → hand looping → mono-skiing for advanced learners.

IISM vs private training

Choose IISM for: government certification, immersive 14-day experience, budget constraints, group dynamics, long-term confidence.

Choose private for: accelerated learning (3–6 days), more attempts, smaller cohorts, instructor focus.
